good week

Last week was nice and I really needed that. I lost my phone the Thursday before that, so I actually went eight days without one. I'll tell you, it was nice for the first day or two, but after that it was simply no good. Too many things to plan and coordinate to be incommunicato.

On Wednesday we had Jess and Tom play in to HellBaby rehearsal. I think it went really well. I was surprised at Tom, having little to no improv training outside of little segments within acting classes. But he nailed two very important things... listen and commit. He worked it out and had a strong night. Jess was good too... I look forward to having them play with us more.

On Thursday I went over to Sarah's house to dye her hair. We won't mention which Sarah so as to maintain the prestige of her non filthy whore root illusion. We just chilled with wine and conversation. Very nice. Then I did her hair. I haven't seen her since that night but she says it turned out well.

Thanks to some help from the dear Dactl, Friday at lunch I finally got a new phone. It's nice to be in the world of communication again. It's amazing how much I've used it since Friday. I actually wanted a specific one, but it was only available online with a new activation. I wasn't about to go changing my number again. So goodbye Mr. Samsung SGH-S307; hello Miss Motorola RAZR V3. Yeah, I got myself this skinny little number that's super sleek and lights up when you touch her.

Hello Moto

Um okay, why would you take it like that? Just to be edgy or something? Some people are seriously sick. Friggin' weirdo.

Friday and Saturday evenings were the run of shows at the Shubin. I think overall it went quite well. Makeout Clinic had a nice set the first night. The second night RĂ¼diger (round two champs from Troika) did a nice BAT. Hypnotoad represented well both nights. We had myself, Rick, Nathan, Mike, Jon & Cubby that first night and it was pretty solid. The second night we had myself, Rick, Nathan & Cubby. That was a tight set. The headliner for both nights was Harsh & Friends, which wasn't really Harsh at all. The first night it was Ari Voukydis (their director), John Montague, who is in the regular cast, Betsy Stover, also in the cast and Nels, a friend of theirs from NYC. For the set they also brought in Alli, AJ, Mark & Pete from MOC to play in. It was a really fun set and I'm proud of the MOC folks. They stepped up hard. The second night it was Ari, John & Nels (Betsy went back to NYC) and then Greg, Matt & Jessi played in. The set went really long but everyone was really enjoying themselves and didn't mind.

Also on the bill Sat night was Geri-Acts, a random side project I have with Brandon Libby. The first time we did this about a month ago it went really well. But Saturday night we just didn't connect. Things were too loose and what little was working we drove into the ground. There were funny moments, but overall not our best. Now here's what's funny though. When we have shows at the Shubin, there's this homeless guy that comes in from the cold to check out shows and have some free beer. The other night our set was apparently so bad, the homeless man left in the middle and chose the cold streets over us and free beer. Now that's something! I like to set the bar high.

Dance class on Saturday was a lot of fun. The hustle is damn sexy. Especially when choreographed by Karen. My parter Megan is a total sweetheart. My back's a little sore and I'm still not quite sure if I pulled something the wrong way, or just used it in a way it's not used to. It's not bad enough to limit my movement, but does get tender when I have complete adduction/abduction with my arms. I think I should be just fine. Went to dinner with Kelly before the show and that was nice. She and Alexis are both in my dance class.

Yesterday it started to snow like crazy for a few hours. Then it changed to mist, then sleet and frozen rain, back to snow, frozen rain again and then just super cold. I thought walking to work today was going to be a pain, but it wasn't bad at all. Hung at Corey's last night. Looks like the Rock n' Roll Bar Mitzvah is going to be rescheduled to late March or early April. Which is fine with me because I can use the prep time on my costume.

So yeah, that was my week... not too bad.
